The wild boar (Sus scrofa) is a wild pig originally found in North Africa and much of Eurasia from the British Isles to Japan and the Sunda Islands and has been widely introduced elsewhere.  They were brought to North America from Europe, first by the Spanish explorers in the 1500’s.
